Department of Mathematical Physics
Welcome to the Department of Mathematical Physics!
We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in theoretical physics. In addition, we teach mathematical methods for engineers. You can find more information about the courses we offer on our course pages.
The department's research interests lie in various areas of theoretical and mathematical physics, including elementary particle physics and quantum field theory, dynamical systems, classical and quantum chaos, and quantum information science. More information about our current research interests is available from our research pages or from the home pages of the individual staff members.
Irish Quantum Foundations 2013
The Irish Quantum Foundations workshop will take place at Castletown House, 3-4 May 2013. It will feature a range of international and local speakers, including a public lecture and opportunities for talks by PhD students. Four generations of the Higgs boson
As part of the IQF workshop there will be a public lecture with Peter Higgs and three other physicists who have been or are working on the Higgs boson. This will take place in the JH1 lecture theatre, John Hume Building, North Campus at 5.30pm, Friday 3 May.. Attendance is free, but reservation is essential. Tickets can be reserved through Eventbrite.
