This demo illustrates nonrelativistic motion of a positively
charged particle in a region containing constant, uniform
electric and magnetic fields.
The units of magnetic and electric field are arbitrary in this
demo. The z-axis is initially vertical. The black parts of
the axes denote positive values, and grey negative.
Instructions for use
- Set the components of the initial velocity, electric
field, and magnetic field using the scrollbars provided.
- The vectors may be set to zero by clicking on the small
buttons at the top right corners of the scrollbar
triples.
- Click "launch" to launch the particle from the
origin.
- Repeat as often as desired.
- Click "clear" to clear previous paths without
changing the vectors.
- Click "reset" to reset everything to its
initial state.
- To change the angle of view, drag the plot area using the
mouse (horizontally to vary the azimuthal angle and
vertically to vary the polar angle.)
